Lifecasts
A 3D cast, or lifecast, is a detailed sculpture reproduced directly from the body. The art of lifecasting dates back as far as Cleopatra's Egypt. Recent times have seen a rise in its popularity amongst parents who want a lasting keepsake of their baby's small and delicate features. Thanks to modern high quality materials, artists are able to offer families the opportunity to have perfect copies of their childrens hands and feet produced. For the more adventurous types there is also a wide range of DIY casting kits available.
Baby hand and foot casts displayed in frames are by far the most popular produced. Older children and adult hands are commonly cast as free standing statues with couples and even whole families opting for larger casts of holding hands. Pregnant belly and face casts are amongst other popular requests. More unusual casts have included babies bottoms and animal paws!
A parent holding a child’s hand; a pregnancy cast encapsulating dad’s hands; a couples hands entwined to celebrate their love for one another; hands posed as in prayer to celebrate Holy Communion. The possibilities are almost endless.
Save The Moment no longer offers a lifecasting service, however there are many great companies that do and can be found through Google.
